Found this photo in one of the Yahoo Groups and thought is was atmospheric I had to post it here. The scene in theatre - the placing of the patient - the exposed flesh is all so erotic. it conjures up so many thoughts of the ventilator breathing for the patient - the team scrubbed and awaiting the start of the operation - and the light has already been positioned ready for the surgeon to pick up the scalpel and make the first incision.

My interest in anaesthesia and surgery is so wide that it’s very hard to pick one photo that I like above the others from the hundreds on the net and in the various groups. Needless to say my particular favourite varies from day to day. I chose the one above (a screen shot from “The Royal” a television series) as it epitomises a past era with its use of black rubber tubing and re-breathing bag and the cloth hat on the patient prior to the introduction of disposable materials. There is also the sense of a long gas induction before the patient is suitably asleep to allow the surgeon to start.
