Penny Start Auctions

eBay Alternatives Offer Bargain Penny Start Auctions

Date: 10/27/2008

If, like me, you enjoy surfing the online auctions looking for potential bargains then maybe this week eBay isn't the obvious place to be. Several sellers have come together to list a wide variety of valuable items for auction with a starting bid of just a penny at sites like eBid, MilBid, Biritzs, Tazbar, WantOneGotOne, Zolanta and ChallengeCoinAuctions.

With eBay constantly changing this year to be more like a mall for larger but less interesting retailers, many of the alternative auction venues are looking to provide for smaller traders and their more interesting items - the kind that originally helped eBay get established. So, in the first of what we plan to become a weekly article to highlight potential bargains, these 15 penny start auctions are all running now with an end time next weekend:

Auction 1 is a new deck of Spanish Tarot Cards listed at eBid.net: Le Tarot de Marseille bilingual vintage sealed BNIB.

Auction 2 is a 10 Carat (apx) Sterling 925 Silver necklace listed at WantOneGotOne.com: Sterling Silver Emerald Necklace.

Auction 3 is for an Old GOEBEL Hummel FIGURINE-LITTLE GARDENER listed at eBid.net: Old GOEBEL Hummel FIGURINE-LITTLE GARDENER #74 TMK2 nr.

Auction 4 is for another Vintage GOEBEL HUMMEL FIGURINE - BAND LEADER #129 - TMK5 No Reserve listed at MilBid.com: Vintage GOEBEL HUMMEL FIGURINE - BAND LEADER #129 - TMK5 No Reserve.

Auction 5 is for a brand new Alba DVD player listed at Zolanta.com: BRAND NEW ALBA DVD / CD PLAYER.

Auction 6 is for a Sterling Silver 16 inch Necklace and Earing "I Love You"
The chickens are coming along very nicely and I never imagined they would be so much fun - they do take over every aspect of your life more of which later.
henrietta, our poorly lady is doing fabulously well, we got to be experts at administering antibiotics into the beak of a hen with minimum fuss and stress, tho it took a while lol, she is fully recovered now ( or seems to be ) and is scratching and running around with the rest of the brood happily, she does lay but only about once a week and the egg is thick shelled and ridged, I am happy with this as given her injury I hoped she wouldnt lay at all, laying doesnt seem to cause her any distress so all is well.
As for invading every aspect of your life well . . . . I posted some pics on Zolanta and bless them the members took the story of battery hens to heart and adopted Little Hen Rescue as the forum charity, Simpli special has donated lots of items which we have listed as charity auctions, they are going very well and everyone has been more than generous with time and money, every penny of which is going to
www.littlehenrescue.co.uk to help rehome more ex battery hens and give them a decent life.
I heartily recommend rehoming these ladies they are endlessly fascinating and give so much pleasure its great

Well we are into our 2nd week of being chicken rehomers - we have taken 4 ex battery hens into our lives and believe me its been a steep learning curve - I have learnt that if you let them roam in the garden all day they dont lay cos they spend all day rummaging - I have learnt about hens with prolapse and have been medicating and bathing one of our ladies who has had this sad condition - she is in her very own little space to stop the others pecking her which in its self is sad cos she cant socialise but I think she is getting used to it .
The big suprise is that the dog takes no notice of them at all - mainly I suspect because he is a bit of a scaredy and a few clucks and wing flaps send him flying
All in all tho we love our hens and what makes me smile most of all is the fact that they put themselves to bed when dusk comes - very sensible

Zolanta High Street

I love this piece it was written by our author in residence and I think its great

always get a sense of excitement coming down here. You never know what to expect; there are new stores opening all the time, people busy with unloading listings and setting up shop. A very friendly place, indeed. I love it here in Zolanta’s main shopping street.

The shop to my left is new; that is going to be very popular. The window display is very colourful with lots of different tissue paper, for packing goods. They sell mail bags as well. With my hands on the sill, I study the shop window. I look up at the name above the door – ‘KitKare’. That’s one to come back to in the future.

Across the street I can see Yarnfest talking to a customer at the door to her shop. She appears to have bought several balls of yarn. I’m not surprised - Yarnfest sells some good brands; Sirdar; Lion Brand and Prym. An excellent store for anyone interested in Crochet and knitting.

The next shop along the street belongs to Template Girl. An excellent shop for anyone needing a template for their listings. We have two template shops I think, on the Zolanta high street. The other store is called Scotia Templates – yes, I’m sure that’s it. Templates are so attractive. A lot of people use them, I know.

What have we here? That’s fairly new. Someone selling Avon Perfumes and cosmetics. Lots of eye shadows and lipsticks. I push the door open to the store, reading the name on the top: Fragrant Folly. Smells nice in here as well. I work my way along the shelves, picking up a bottle of ‘sun spray for kids’. That’s a good idea. I must call back here later. Avon products are very good.
 __________________
