Hello again Dear Reader(if you still exist !)

Back into the swing of further artistic creativity thank goodness, following a spell of hopeless incapability in the drawing department. Have decided to once again take part in the Bristol Southbank Arts Trail, taking place this year on May 10-11th, and unfortunately coinciding with a Comics Expo taking place the same weekend(at least we know where all the Anoraks and Manga-loving Goth kids will be !) Once again, as last year, I will be showing new drawings at Number 40(www.number40.net)at the lovely house/studio/gallery space of the Broadway family.

To this end, i've begun work on new drawings, as well as a brand new set of drawings for a brand new batch of Yo-Yo Stuff handmade books (have just this evening finished line inking 26 new A6 drawings for the books). I will attempt in the next few weeks to post sneak previews of some of the work in progress (if I remember !). In the meantime, you can still buy the remaining last batch of Yo-Yo Buks left at Ben Mason's www.osnap.co.uk website(see under the ART heading, that's where you'll find samples of my artwork, as well as the Yo-Yo Buks for sale). You'll also find some pretty excellent photography by some very good young artists,so I recommend taking a look.

Well that's about all for now-back to the drawing board, as these new drawings won't colour themselves(a pity really, it would save me a job). Watch this space for more examples, and if you're interested, let me know. Hey, just let me know you're out there, taking all this rubbish in !!!

BROWNER/KNOWLE ISSUE 1

Well, i've been slighty busy of late, ending gainful employment at two jobs, and now compiling what is hopefully the first of a few issues of a small photocopied zine entitled Browner-knowle(yes, it's not a great title, smacking unfortunately of a certain degree of unwarrented egotism, but well, it'll have to do for now).

Anyway, issue one is now available:it's a limited edition of 80,24 black & white pages at A5,and will cost £3 + £1 postage from(initially):15 Wedmore Vale,Bedminster,Bristol BS3 5HQ.Cheques/PO'S payable to Paul Brown.

It should also shortly be available from www.osnap.co.uk, who are currently selling my Yo-Yo Buks(hand-drawn sketchbooks of odd doodles).I do hope you're intriqued enough to consider taking a look.

There is a short review & plug for issue one, courtesy of erstwhile comics professor Terry Hooper, on his ComicBitsOnline website(alternatively, you can contact him via his Yahoo site, The Professor's Blog.)

It's been fun putting together a small photocopied zine again, something i used to be involved in back in the 80's and 90's, when i used to self-published a stripzine entitled Vigilante Vulture, as well as write reviews and do artwork for the aforementioned Mr Hooper's infamous comics zine Zine Zone. It seems that there's a new breed of zine producers out there doing some very interesting stuff, and it's certainly worth checking out what's around, if you can find it.Obviously, i recommend starting with browner-knowle.You know it makes sense !

Well, firstly, apologies for a complete lack of involvement with this page lately, i have unfortunately become somewhat ridiculously obsessed with the sheer, unadulterated pointlessness that is Farceberk. Anyway, back to the site of what was my initial blogging tool, which almost sounds offensive (and ,having read the contents, may well be construed as such, as in, an offensively dull context).

Anyway, i digress. Sadly i don't have a note from my Mum as to reasons of omission, but certainly enough feeble excuses to warrant a detention, no doubt. Non-stop office work at two jobs, continual facing of health problems with those around me,rather than myself (my own ITP problems seem to have abated-no longer on steroids, and my platelet count as of a week ago was virtually normal at 178), and currently a general worn-out/anxiety/exhaustion & depression, not helped by a complete lack of artistic creativity, apart from a few sketchbook doodles here and there. One recognises the need for a fresh start in 2008, certainly beginning with a reduction in office employment, and a return to the pleasure of producing artwork again.

Which brings me onto a mention of having just spent a couple of days in the wonderful company of the Broadways,at their Christmas exhibition. For those of you who missed it-you fools !So a quick plug for Steve and the gang, and as always a pleasure to be in their company, and as always surrounded by their wonderful art. If you wish to discover more, go to www.number40.net. i also recommend Steve's blog, a link to which you can get from the above number40 link.

Well, i'd better get down to 100 lines of, "I must write more regular blogs" as punishment for being so tardy ! Still, thanks to those of you who still view this sorry excuse at interweb communication, even if i can't really know if anyone out there could paticularly care less ! You've been a wonderful audience !

The Least of the Famous Internetional Playbores

For those of you who simply can't exist without the sheer unadulterated excitement of my internet postings ( there must be someone, somewhere...no ?), you may, or more likely, may not be interested to know that you can also find yours truly on Facebook and Myspace under the guise of Paul Ashley Brown.

For someone who's always had a rather neanderthal relationship with technology, i'm quite suprised at my almost blind willingness to embrace these various modes of Interweb communication, while being all too aware of how much verbal abuse i will expel in a day, blithely dismissing the whole www.existence as generally embracing a nauseous degree of arrested development and obsession with excessive content that i'm sure will hasten the cultural decline of western civilisation( not necessarily such a bad thing perhaps). Mind you, who am i to judge, when i seem incapable of writing short sentences, and making blitheringly sweeping generalisations about something i have virtually no knowledge of really !

My real concern is that all of this technology is having the effect of speeding up time, and accellerating our culture, without necessarily improving it. Though i can accept the irony that i'm posting this into the ethernet in the ridiculously optimistic belief that someone, somewhere, might just read this. One never knows. Though one's more likely to believe that they won't.

I know i'll be in trouble the day i stop writing real letters- on paper. With a pen. To people i might actually know. In that foreign land called the Real World.
